WBL Fest 2024 | Recap

Our 8th annual WBL Fest was our biggest yet, with 18 events taking place throughout the DMV. Check out this photo recap of our two biggest events, Jazz & Blossoms and An Evening with Saul Williams.

Jazz & Blossoms | Franklin Park

Our second annual Jazz & Blossoms took place in Franklin Park this April in collaboration with the DowntownDC BID. We rejoiced in the arrival of spring by listening to our favorite music performers! Digable Planets, Sun Ra Arkestra, Jackson McFerrin, DJ John Murph, Kassa Overall, and JoGo Project were featured on the concert lineup this year. This gathering was perfect for the whole family, with complimentary mocktails, t-shirts, carricutures, and lawn games. In honor of National Poetry Month, our esteemed director of poetry, Patrick Washington, who is also a well-known poet, collaborated with event goers to compose haiku, that then went up on our community poetry wall.

The event was a huge success, bringing together people of all ages to enjoy music, art, and the beauty of nature in the heart of the city. We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come and creating more opportunities for community engagement and celebration.

An Evening with Saul Williams | Wooly Mammoth Theater

The Wooly Mammoth Theater was rocking with a sold-out crowd when poet, singer, writer, and actor Saul Williams took the stage. Andy Shall from Busboys and Poets, Eaton DC novelist Nina Brewton, poet Meccamorphosis, and DJ KerimtheDJ were among the special guests. The energy in the room was palpable as Saul Williams delivered a powerful performance, captivating the audience with his unique blend of artistry. The diverse lineup of talented individuals added to the electric atmosphere, making it a night to remember for all in attendance.
