Event Description:
Join WBL’s Towards 2040 Fellows for a creative space envisioning hip-hop’s journey to the year 2040. Waiting Room: 2040 includes interactive experiences, live performances and space to share stories and create new connections, all looking towards our collective future.
The Towards 2040 Fellows will also be participating in a discussion as part of Remixing the Art of Social Change at Eaton DC in the Crystal Ballroom from 1:15 - 2:00pm.
Words Beats & Life Fest 2024 is brought to you in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, Humanities DC, The Kennedy Center, DowntownDC Foundation, Fusicology, Busboys And Poets, Eaton DC, Woolly Mammoth Theater and Planet Word.
About Towards 2040: Creative Leaders Fellowship
The Towards 2040 fellowship strives to enact meaningful change by 2040, using hip-hop as an outcome-driven, design-centered cultural practice to ensure justice and equality for all. Fellows are empowered to design systems, platforms and spaces that are accessible to everyone, guided by their mentors, collective learning, and skill building, they will transform their experience into solutions for the future.
Our 2024 fellows were selected from over a pool of applicants and went through a rigorous review process. The fellows will participate in monthly creative solution sessions, exchange ideas with a peer mentor and work collectively towards the 2024 Words Beats & Life Festival in Washington, DC.
